الأسئلة الشائعة

About the dates

What is a Deglet Noor date?
A semi dry variety grown across North Africa. Ours comes from Libya. It is amber and delicate where a Medjool is dark and heavy, with a rich caramel sweetness and a clean finish. The name translates roughly as date of light: the flesh is translucent and glows amber against the sun.

How is it different from a Medjool?
Medjools are large, dark and jammy with heavy sweetness. Deglet Noor is golden, slimmer and more delicate, soft and tender with a caramel sweetness that never turns cloying. Almost every supermarket date in America is a Medjool, which is why this one tastes unfamiliar at first, and why people who try it tend to stay with it.

Where do your dates come from?
Libya, and only Libya. One country, one variety, traceable by batch. We do not blend lots from several origins.

Is there added sugar?
No. The only ingredient is dates. Nothing is sweetened, coated, glazed or blended. Not a low calorie food; see nutrition information for sugar and calorie content.

Do they have pits?
Yes. Our dates contain pits. Please eat with care and supervise children.

Are there allergens?
Our dates are packed in a facility that handles only dates and contain none of the major food allergens. If you have a food allergy, read the packaging and consult your doctor.

Storage and serving

Why are they frozen?
Freezing at harvest locks in colour and texture. Above freezing, dates slowly brown and lose the caramel gold appearance that makes the variety worth eating. Nothing is added and nothing is preserved chemically.

How do I store them?
Keep frozen until you are ready to enjoy them. After opening, store refrigerated. Take them out twenty minutes before serving. They are best at room temperature.

How many is a serving?
Five dates, about 40 grams. There are about 22 servings in a Petite Box and about 47 in a Signature Box.
