The Date I Grew Up With
Some foods stay with you.
They become part of home, part of childhood, and part of what you naturally reach for without thinking about it.
For me, that food was dates.
I grew up eating them, and I never really stopped. I still eat dates every day. If you put chocolate, candy, or a bowl of good dates in front of me, I will choose the dates.
Not because they are supposed to be “healthy.”
I just genuinely love them.
They are naturally sweet, deeply satisfying, and full of character. And the date I grew up loving was Deglet Noor.
Its amber to golden brown color, rich caramel sweetness, and soft, tender texture were familiar to me long before LOARANA existed.
When I Moved to America
After coming to America, I started looking for the same dates.
Medjool dates seemed to be everywhere. They are dark, large, and very different from the Deglet Noor I grew up eating.
I wanted the variety I knew from home. The one I had eaten for years. The one I naturally reached for every day.
So I started looking.
Sometimes I found Deglet Noor in specialty stores, but finding the quality I remembered was another story. A simple craving could mean driving out of my way, checking different markets, hoping they had them in stock, and still coming home without the fruit I was looking for.
Eventually, I stopped asking:
“Where can I find the dates I grew up with?”
And started asking:
“Why don’t I bring them here myself?”
That is where LOARANA began.
Why LOARANA Exists
LOARANA was born from a simple idea: make the Deglet Noor I grew up loving easier to find and easier to enjoy.
We care about the fruit itself. The variety. The origin. The harvest. The way it is handled. And most importantly, how it tastes when it reaches your table.
Our Deglet Noor comes from Libya. The dates are freshly harvested, carefully selected, and frozen within days of harvest.
Nothing is added.
Just whole Deglet Noor dates with the rich taste, beautiful color, and tender texture that made me love this fruit in the first place.
LOARANA was not created because I needed another product to sell.
It started because I missed something.
I knew what I wanted. I could not find it the way I remembered it. So I decided to bring it here.
